Corporate Social Responsibility

Indegene’s CSR Vision

Indegene corporate social responsibility initiative

The Frontier of Deep Science & Intellectual Property
The past 12 to 24 months have fundamentally reshaped the global economic and healthcare landscapes, making one structural reality undeniable: the world of tomorrow will be driven entirely by deep science, advanced technology, and high-value Intellectual Property (IP). Breakthroughs are no longer linear; they are exponential, emerging at the collision points of life sciences, data analytics, and computational infrastructure. For nations and organizations to thrive in this new paradigm, they must transition from being consumers of innovation to creators of foundational IP.

As a company operating at the global frontier of life sciences, Indegene recognizes that our social responsibility must match our unique core competencies. We believe that long-term social impact cannot be achieved through fragmented, transactional initiatives. Instead, it requires a deeply strategic, multi-horizon commitment to strengthening India’s deep science ecosystem. Our CSR philosophy is anchored in an ambitious vision: to cultivate, support, and scale next-generation capabilities in biopharmaceuticals and biotechnology, driving India’s evolution into a global IP powerhouse.

Our Philosophical Anchor

Our CSR strategy represents a profound structural shift from traditional philanthropy to systemic ecosystem engineering. We are deliberately investing where the scientific horizon is being pushed, ensuring that India builds the enduring institutional and intellectual architecture required to lead the global bio-economy.

Strategic Imperatives:

Shifting from Discovery to Scale

SDG Linkages:

Sustainable Development Goals 3, 9 and 17

To build a self-reinforcing innovation flywheel, Indegene has reordered its systemic priorities around three highly strategic, interconnected pillars. We focus our partnerships exclusively on leading, tier-1 institutions and innovation hubs capable of driving global-quality outcomes.

Pillar I:

Accelerating Translation and Commercialization Pathways

The most critical vulnerability in India’s current life sciences landscape is not a lack of raw scientific talent, but the ‘valley of death’ that exists between laboratory validation and real-world commercial scale. Promising research frequently stalls due to the absence of institutional mentorship, specialized regulatory guidance, and operational infrastructure.

  • Partnering with C-CAMP (Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms): Empowering a selected, high-potential cohort of deep-tech and life sciences startups annually. By bridging the gap between clinical validation and robust business models, we help convert complex science into viable, life-saving products
  • Collaborating with FNDR (Foundation for Neglected Disease Research): Accelerating research and breakthrough developments in critical, historically underfunded therapeutic segments such as tuberculosis and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This partnership brings world-class translation capability to pressing global public health threats
  • Leveraging Corporate Expertise: We deploy Indegene’s proprietary industrial expertise across digital tools, clinical optimization, and complex pharmaceutical operations to directly accelerate startup lifecycles, ensuring deep tech hits the market at velocity

Pillar II

Cultivating Interdisciplinary Academic & Research Excellence

High-impact IP cannot grow in silos. The frontiers of modern medicine - including genomics, bioinformatics, and computational biology - demand a convergence of life sciences, advanced engineering, and data science. We focus on anchoring global-quality research ecosystems at India’s most prestigious, forward-thinking academic institutions.

  • Ashoka University & Plaksha University: Where we support cutting-edge research programs at the precise intersection of data analytics, computer science, and human biology. This foundational investment is shaping a future-ready cadre of elite research talent and faculty ecosystems
  • Consolidated Bio-Innovation Frameworks: We support specialized capabilities and nurture curiosity-driven, fundamental research in high-unmet-need areas like cardiovascular and neurodegenerative conditions, integrating these efforts into broader interdisciplinary frameworks at premier centers (subsuming specialized tracks like the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology - IBAB)

Pillar III

Building an Enabling Policy Environment and System-Level Architecture

Even the most advanced research and well-capitalized startups will fail to scale without an enabling regulatory, funding, and structural policy environment. True system-level impact requires evidence-based frameworks that match global benchmarks.

  • Strategic Engagement with FAST India (Foundation for Advancing Science and Technology): To develop rigorous, data-driven insights and actionable blueprints for India’s biotech ecosystem. A core focus includes benchmarking highly successful global models - such as analyzing the systemic levers behind China’s rapid rise in biotechnology - to identify regulatory and infrastructure modifications necessary for India
  • The Centre for Health Analytics Research and Trends (CHART) at Ashoka University: Supporting robust health data infrastructure. This platform provides the essential analytical foundation required by policymakers for evidence-based decision-making and national public health strategies

A Commitment to
Compounding Impact

At Indegene, we take the long view. India’s trajectory toward becoming a dominant, globally recognized biotech powerhouse cannot rely on isolated, serendipitous breakthroughs. It demands an integrated, self-sustaining ecosystem where discovery is nurtured, translation is accelerated, and scale is legally and structurally-enabled.
